Recoleta es probablemente el barrio más sofisticado y exclusivo de la ciudad de Buenos Aires, asimismo uno de los barrios que despiertan mayor interés turístico.
Esto se debe a la rica historia del barrio Recoleta de Buenos Aires, su formidable arquitectura, y a la abundancia de espacios artísticos, culturales y educacionales.
En estas construcciones predominaba la edificación de estilo francés, Mucha de esta se conserva hasta la actualidad otra paso a ser modernos edificios de gran categoría. Esto lo transformó en una de las zonas más exclusivas de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
Es un sector altamente comercial, el cual es recorrido por una gran cantidad de turistas así como nativos, generalmente de un poder adquisitivo alto, ya que en el barrio se encuentran sucursales de las más importantes y prestigiosas casas de moda de EEUU, Francia e Italia como también podemos encontrar centros comerciales y de entretenimiento como el Village Recoleta, Paseo Alcorta y Buenos Aires Design-
Los fines de semana la zona comprendida por Plaza Francia, Museo de Bellas Artes, Centro Cultural Palais de Grace, Centro de Exposiciones y el centro cultural Recoleta, se trasforma en una de la zonas más visitadas por turistas y peatones en donde se encuentran con una gran cantidad de atracciones comerciales, turísticas, culturales, artísticas y recreativas como parte fundamental del circuito de la popular feria Hippie en la Plaza Francia.
Con respecto al nivel educacional cuenta con 114 establecimientos educativos, 4 de educación pública y 90 privada. Y 4 establecimientos de educación universitaria dependiente de la Universidad de Buenos Aires (Medicina, Derecho, Farmacia y Bioquímica y Odontología).
